Scope & Certification

What our certifications actually mean, what they don’t, and how to work ethically within your own laws and context.

If you’re a serious practitioner – especially in the US – you care about scope, ethics and what your training actually qualifies you to do.

This page is here to make that as clear as possible. No vague promises. No legal fairy tales. Just straight talk about how the Nine Realms and Sanomentology fit into your professional world.

What Certification from the Nine Realms Institute Is

When you complete relevant realms and trainings inside the Nine Realms Institute (including Sanomentology), you may receive certification specific to that realm or modality.

That certification means:

  • you’ve studied and engaged with the specific system (e.g. the Nine Realms, Sanomentology, the Potentiality Realm, etc.)
  • you’ve demonstrated a sufficient level of understanding and competence within that system
  • you are authorised to use the processes and methods you’ve been trained in, under the banners and language provided (for example, “Sanomentologist”, “Nine Realms practitioner”, “Potentiality Realm practitioner” where applicable)
  • you belong to a lineage of practice that shares a common model and ethical frame

Certification represents competence within this body of work – not a blank cheque to practise anything, anywhere, under any title.

What Certification Does Not Do

In simple terms:

Our certifications say:

“You are competent in this system.”

They do not say:

“You may legally do anything, anywhere, with anyone.”

That difference matters – ethically and legally.

Sanomentology as a Defined Modality

Sanomentology is a distinct, defined and trademarked process with its own training pathway, practitioner standards and certification.

Practitioners who are trained and certified in Sanomentology are authorised to use and advertise their work under the Sanomentology banner, subject to local advertising and professional guidelines.

In many regions – including for some practitioners in the US and elsewhere – business insurers are familiar with Sanomentology and are willing to offer practice insurance for those trained within the brand.

That said:

  • insurance availability varies by country, state and provider
  • it is your responsibility to check with insurers in your region
  • we can often provide supporting information about the modality if needed, but cannot guarantee coverage

We give you a serious modality. Your local context decides how it’s classified.

Working Within Your Legal Context

Laws around mental health, hypnotherapy, coaching, energy work and spiritual practices vary enormously between countries – and inside the US, between states.

In some places:

  • hypnotherapy is regulated and restricted to licensed professionals
  • the language of “therapy” is protected
  • certain claims are prohibited in advertising

In other places:

  • modalities like Sanomentology, coaching, spiritual guidance and energy work can be practised under their own labels, within clear ethical and legal limits

Our stance is simple:

you must know and follow the laws where you live and work

  • you must be honest about what you do and what you don’t do
  • you must not present yourself as something you are not (for example, a licensed psychologist, psychiatrist or medical doctor, unless you are)

We are not your legal counsel.

We provide:

  • a rigorous system and modality
  • documentation about what we teach
  • clarity on scope and ethics

You provide:

  • local legal checks
  • honest representation of your role
  • responsibility for how and where you practise.

Realms for Personal Mastery & Practitioner Foundations

Within the Nine Realms:

  • Realm 1 – Practitioner
  • Realm 2 – Consciousness
  • Realm 3 – Identity
  • Realm 4 – Emotional
  • Realm 9 – Potentiality (Magic & Miracles)

…provide certification of completion and competence within the educational content.

These realms:

  • deepen your personal understanding and skill
  • inform how you show up as a practitioner
  • can support your existing work with clients

They are not, on their own, a licence to practise regulated therapy in any jurisdiction.

Realms for Practitioner-Level Application

The following realms include direct practitioner application with clients:

  • Realm 5 – Healing (Sanomentology)
  • Realm 6 – Liberation
  • Realm 7 – Heroic (The Hercules Quest)
  • Realm 8 – Transformational (Reality Hacker)

Certification in these realms:

  • affirms your competence to use the processes and structures taught with clients
  • allows you, where legally permitted, to practise under relevant banners (e.g. “Sanomentologist”, “Nine Realms practitioner” etc.)

You are still responsible for ensuring that:

  • you remain within your lawful scope of practice
  • you refer on when cases require licensed or medical care
  • you represent your training accurately.

Ethics, Safety & the Nine Realms

The deeper the model, the more responsibility you hold.

Practitioners trained in the Nine Realms and Sanomentology are expected to:

  • honour client autonomy and informed consent
  • work within their competence and refer when out of depth
  • avoid making medical, legal or financial claims outside their remit
  • avoid promising guaranteed outcomes or “miracle cures”
  • maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality

If you’re drawn to this work, it’s usually because you already care about these things.
Our job is to give you a system worthy of that level of care.

Does certification from Nine Realms Institute make me a “licensed therapist”?

No. Our certifications do not make you a licensed therapist, psychologist, counsellor, doctor or any regulated title. If you already hold those licenses, this work can sit alongside your existing qualifications – within the rules of your licensing body.

Can I legally practise Sanomentology or Nine Realms work in the US?

Many practitioners do, under banners such as Sanomentology, coaching, spiritual guidance or complementary modalities – depending on their state and context.

You must check your own state laws and, where needed, seek legal advice. We can provide information about what the modality is, but we cannot give state-specific legal guidance.

Will I be insured if I practise this work?

In many regions, business insurers are familiar with Sanomentology and are willing to offer practice insurance for certified practitioners.

Insurance is always decided by the provider in your region. We cannot guarantee coverage, but we can often supply training details if they request them.

Can I combine this work with other modalities in a session?

You can absolutely draw on multiple trainings across your overall practice.

However, within a single session or process, we strongly request:

  • keeping the core Sanomentology / Nine Realms processes clean, not mashed together with other methods mid-stream
  • being explicit with clients about what you are doing and why

Mixed-modality work can be powerful, but it must be done with clarity and respect for the integrity of each system.

Does Boundless or Foundations give me everything I need to start a practice from scratch?

Boundless and Foundations give you a deep architecture and practical tools – but they do not magically replace the need for business skills, local legal knowledge and experience.

Think of them as the core of your craft, not a full plug-and-play business in a box.

If you’ve read this far, you’re exactly the kind of person this work is built for – someone who cares about depth and responsibility.

If you’re ready to step into the Nine Realms, here are your best next moves:
